June Recap

Well, I recovered from COVID, so things got busy again. And then vacation happened. A family vacation. So things got busier still. Now the house is quiet, except for Spike who we are dog sitting while my brother is in Iowa. Maybe I can cover June now.

Reunion

Caleb kicked off the month once again! Meagan and Chris attended her Wellesley College reunion, and Dave and I got to babysit.

We had a mini crowd here at first with Lauren and Craig bringing Jacob for a quick play date with Caleb, and Nicole stopping by to see both boys. Jacob is infatuated with Nicole and calls her Coley. He is less infatuated with Caleb, though he did a great job of putting up with him.

Once the crowd left, we had a fun time eating dinner, opening up kitchen cabinets, and taking a bath.

North Carolina

My brother Matt invited us down to Sue and Jo’s houses to drink the wine that Sue had bought in Napa.

But that’s okay, because Sue had us plant flowers, hang wallpaper, and assemble eight Adirondack chairs for her patio.

Sue and Jo paired up to assemble some of the chairs, while Bonus Megan and I assembled the others. At one point during the assembly, things got a bit frenzied, and Joanne complained she didn’t realize it was a competition.

When Sue and I are involved, of course it is a competition.

And because Bonus Megan and I were teamed together, we won.

We managed to drink all the Napa wine the first night and get through Sue’s to do list before we left.

In between, we played pickleball.

Everyone had their own style. Matt was a mad dasher, Austin was a smasher, Sue was a tennis player, Jo was a natural athlete with little interest in team competition, Megan seemed to think we were all a bit much, the kids made fun of the adults, Matt V hurt himself two seconds in while trying to play in flip flops, Dave toyed with everyone, and I did a lot of laughing – during points.

Father’s Day

TJ (Tyler Jr.) arrived on the scene in early June. And what better first Father’s Day could Tyler Sr. have than celebrating with his aunt-in-law and great grandmother-in-law? We picked up Memere to go meet TJ, and she was thrilled with him.

Greats and Great-greats

Lake Weekend

My cousin Justin invited himself up to the lake along with his wife Sara and his son Tyler. My brother was also having a friend up that same weekend with her two young sons. My brother told Justin to bring Memere up, and Justin agreed that was a good idea. I thought they were joking.

Justin showed up with Sara, Tyler, Memere, and a friend of Tyler’s.

Dave’s friend showed up with her two sons, her mother, and a baby on board.

We had a splendid time. The two older boys fished, the two younger boys swam, Memere slept, Justin mucked, and all of us threw the buoy for Spike. Repeatedly.

Next Up – July

That brings us to the end of June. Stay tuned for July. Hopefully I’ll get to it before the fall.
