Update on the Newlyweds

My mother and I visited my grandparents today. I’m happy to say they are still married, though there was quite a bit of bickering. Memere won each argument, but that might have been because Pepere gave up.

For lunch, we went to the usual restaurant in a part of the state where the waitresses know to ask their customers if they want vinegar with their french fries. The answer was yes. We had the Wednesday specials that came with free clam cakes, but we didn’t get the soup or salad since that would have been an extra $2.

My grandfather pointed out that my 25-year-old washer was still in service.

My grandfather also pointed out the stone walls he is working on, and, as you can see, their side yard is quite pretty.

The conversation did become somewhat alarming at one point when they discussed how they had recently removed four tree stumps from their yard. With a chain saw. I can only imagine what my uncle was thinking when he came upon them doing so on his way home from work. I’m guessing it wouldn’t be suitable for print.
