A Favorite Place for a Good Day
We are coming up on the 4th of July, and I’m getting ready to talk about Memorial Day. Where does the summer go?
Any how.
Our usual routine the past few years has been to come back from Florida mid-May, check out the lake house, and if the place isn’t a disaster, invite the Murphys up for Memorial Day weekend.
The place was in good shape (I think the best ever this year), so the Murphys got the invite.
Now, one of the things I love about the lake is when I see how much someone else loves the lake.
Jake loves the lake.
Leading up to his visit, he was counting down the days with his mom.
While he was there, every day he would say things like “Today would be a good day for a boat ride!”
He enjoys everything about the lake.
So, when he started coughing, he did his best to downplay his symptoms. He was worried his mom would pack him up to go home.
After spiking a fever of 102, throwing up, and having difficulty breathing, Mom and Grampy took him to the emergency room in Laconia.
His question for the doctor was if he could go back to the lake.
With some steroids, amoxicillin, and Tylenol in his system, he returned to the lake house around 2 in the morning.
The next day, he walked the two mile loop around Black Cat, found some buried treasure in the sand, and went for a boat ride – since it was yet another good day for a boat ride.
