Things that Make Me Mad

It’s a good thing I don’t try to keep up with all the breaking news with these blog posts of mine.

Back in March, John McCain said “there’s a lot of shoes to drop from this centipede.”

Since then, every time another shoe drops I wonder if it will be the shoe that breaks the camel’s back? Will it be the shoe that will cause everyone to say enough is enough?

Like a kid at Christmas, I eagerly and hopefully anticipate that watershed moment. In the meantime, I’ve put together this list of things that make me mad. (Note: The list might be far from inclusive.)

1. Republican elected officials who are not honest and upfront about what is happening. They are falling far short of their duty and their patriotism. An increasing number of them are becoming “concerned” and “troubled”. It’s time for them to step it up and fully support the search for the facts. They should openly admit there is something rotten in the States of Donald. 
2. Bernie Bros who are still complaining that Bernie was shafted and would have won. Any shafting of Bernie pales in comparison to the shafting of Hillary. Yes, he might have won because he didn’t have the misogynists and Russians against him. Let’s make sure the Dems run another old, white guy the next time around. One who hasn’t been a Secretary of State who went after Putin. But go ahead Bros, continue attacking Hillary. That’s real helpful in this situation.
3. Fake news. As in Fox News. I’m all for free press, which is under attack right now – by the President of the United States no less. But what Fox News is doing should be considered criminal.
4. The Russians. They played us. 
5. Anyone in the Trump administration who went along with the Russians. I hope they fry.

And you might be surprised to find out these things that don’t make me mad:

1. Trump. He no longer makes me mad. He just disgusts me. He is who he is, and we all know who he is and have for quite some time. Let’s just get him out of there as soon as possible.
2. The American people – those who voted for Trump and those who didn’t vote because they considered Hillary evil. I can’t imagine living with the cognitive dissonance they must be experiencing. Or maybe they aren’t. Research shows that facts are unlikely to change minds and might actually lead people to strengthen their beliefs. That research concerns me. If we aren’t voting based on facts, maybe a democracy isn’t the way to go. Look at where it has gotten us. And those of you who believe the Fox News “facts” may wonder how I can possibly believe the facts reported by the New York Times, The Washington Post, and CNN. So how in the world do we resolve this?

Finally, things that I seriously worry about:

1. The stability of this country.

Seriously.

And to think a year ago today I was here.
