Phase 3?

It’s been a while since I last posted, and that’s been for a few reasons.

First, I’ve been super busy.

It started off with the holiday season, which always does a number on me. At this point, thank goodness, my shopping consists of clicking on the links my girls send me. However, I have yet to achieve a point and click mentality when it comes to entertaining. Two days of menu planning, two days of grocery shopping, and three days of cooking. On the plus side, I’ve only recently had to start cooking again due to leftovers.

Another activity that took a lot of my time was turning Phase 1 of my blog into a book for my mother and my girls as a Christmas gift. I was embarrassed about the amount of time it took me. In the end, though, it was worth it. My girls are begging me to go back to my Phase 1 style of posts.

In celebration of finishing my blog book, I took a few hours to write a review of Hillary’s book. That didn’t take a lot of time though. It kind of spilled out of me.

I’ve also gotten involved with a local community center. A friend asked me to help with the website. So now the website is taking an embarrassing amount of my time. To the point where my husband is questioning my choices. However, today, for the first time ever, I included a snippet of code in a php file. I found that positively thrilling.

Finally, Dave and I bought a winter place in Florida. Our anticipated spring closing date has turned into a closing date of January 29th.  I am currently in overdrive mode.

In addition to being super busy, another reason I haven’t posted in a while is because I just don’t know about all this politics stuff anymore. I don’t know what to say.

So, I’ve been considering going into phase 3 of the blog, though I’m not sure what that phase will look like.

Between now and the time I figure out what phase 3 looks like, I’ll post about things that really capture my attention.

Yesterday, something caught my attention.

First, let me tell you about Jean.

I worked with Jean at the end of my career at MITRE. He was the lead engineer for an Air Force project that I supported at Hanscom Air Force Base.

Jean was a hard worker who was good at leading a team. He always appreciated my work and took the time to understand it. He was always polite and friendly with a nice smile and laugh. We talked Celtics and sports. He had two kids, and he told me stories about those two kids, and he sometimes had to race out of work because he had to pick them up from school.

One year, he ran a charitable clothing drive, and everyone in the program office put together boxes and boxes of clothes for him. Using his vacation time, he flew home with those boxes.

To Haiti.

So, I just want to say one thing.

Jean doesn’t deserve to have his home called a shithole.
